Grand opening for Steel Plant Garden Café at Marist College

Steel Plant Garden Café operated Marist Dining by Sodexo is now open.

Steel Plant Garden Café operated Marist Dining by Sodexo is now open.

The well-appointed space is located within Steel Plant Studios at Marist College, the new learning center for the Fashion Program and the Department of Art & Digital Media. The café resembles its surroundings incorporating brick, steel, polished concrete, terrazzo, corrugated metal, tile, and wood to achieve a “Hudson River Valley” industrial–modern style.

“I think it’s beautiful,” said Lydia DeLuca, Marist College student, class of ‘20. “It’s a very nice environment to work in. I have a couple classes in the building so I’ll be in here a lot.”

Tony Cabral, class of ‘21, concurs. “The new dining facility is a breath of fresh air for Marist. It’s contemporary, modern, and innovative, and I think it’s necessary on campus. I’m so happy to be one of the first classes to get to experience it.”

Offerings include North River Roasters fair trade coffee, an assortment of artisan wraps and sandwiches, soups, fresh baked goods and snacks. Each barrel of coffee beans is labeled with the country of origin of the beans used for each roast. Featured beans will change each month, as new shipments of coffee beans arrive from across the globe.
