Greene County Small Business Owner To Challenge Faso For 19th Congressional District
He describes himself as a lifelong progressive Democrat.

ELKA PARK, NY — Brian Flynn, a Greene County resident and a lifelong progressive Democrat and small business owner, announced Tuesday his bid to challenge incumbent Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, for New York’s 19th Congressional District. In announcing his candidacy, Flynn said he's spent the last 30 years fighting for progressive change that will make a difference in people's lives.
"I first went to Washington to seek justice for my brother and the other 269 victims of the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie, but from that very personal tragedy, I learned that it is possible to get results — if you bring people together and never give up," he said. "With that same sense of determination, I’ve been fighting for progressive change ever since — from helping undocumented immigrants build a better life for themselves to advocating for Medicare for all and taking on large corporate polluters," Flynn said.

Flynn has visited every county of the 19th District numerous times, meeting with voters, activists, business owners, community leaders and government officials, according to a spokesperson. At virtually every stop, Flynn heard concerns about President Trump’s chaotic and divisive policies — and anger towards John Faso for enabling Trump at every turn, while getting nothing done for the people of District 19.
"Protesting is important, and I’ve been right there at the marches, but even more important is getting results," Flynn said. "And that’s what I’ve always been about. John Faso and Donald Trump made a bunch of big promises when they went to Washington — and thus far, they have nothing to show for it. Folks around here are ready for a Congressman who actually gets things done on their behalf."
