Hazardous Weather Forecast For Mid-Hudson Valley

Looking toward the weekend, there could be strong winds in the region.

Rain is once again in the forecast for the Hudson Valley, and above freezing temperatures are also expected. Because of that, the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties for Thursday and Thursday night.

The NWS said more rain is expected Thursday night, along with temperatures above freezing. As a result, there will likely be snow melt leading to rises on area rivers.

Although river flows are not expected to reach flood levels on their own, river rises may be enough to cause some ice break up and movement which could lead to some localized ice jam flooding.
