Hazardous Weather Forecast For Parts Of Hudson Valley

There is even a winter weather advisory in effect for one part of the region.

With rain forecast for the Hudson Valley over the next couple of days, in some areas, temperatures will be dipping into the freezing range overnight Wednesday into Thursday. As a result, there is the possibility of a wintry mix for the portion of the region north of I-84.

The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for parts of the Hudson Valley.

For Dutchess, eastern Ulster, Orange and Putnam counties, there could be pockets of freezing rain Wednesday and Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, in Sullivan County, a winter weather advisory has been issued. It's in effect from noon Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday. The NWS said that freezing rain is expected. Total ice accumulations of less than 1/10th of an inch for most locations is forecast and could affect the evening commute. Locally, there could be up to 2/10th of an inch for higher elevations in the Catskills.

For Thursday night into Friday, the NWS said that more rain is expected for Dutchess and eastern Ulster. Along with above freezing temperatures and snow melt from higher elevations, there could be rises in area rivers, which could be enough to cause some ice break up and movement.
