Hazardous Weather Outlooks Issued For Hudson Valley

Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast through the rest of the week.

With showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for the rest of the week, it only follows that the region might see some hazardous weather outlooks issued by the National Weather Service. Well, for Columbia, Dutchess and eastern Ulster counties, the NWS issued a hazardous outlook in effect for the rest of the week, and into the following week.

For Tuesday and Tuesday night, isolated non-severe thunderstorms are possible for the afternoon into the night, mainly across the western Adirondacks and Mohawk Valley.

Thunderstorms may contain locally heavy rainfall, with a very humid air mass remaining in place.

The NWS said there is a better chance of thunderstorms Wednesday through Wednesday night as a cold front slowly moves through the region.

Some of the storms will contain very heavy rainfall, which may cause small stream, urban and poor drainage flooding. Flash flooding will be possible, and a flash flood watch may be needed.

There is also a chance of thunderstorms Friday and Monday, the NWS said.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, no hazardous weather is expected for Tuesday. But a hazardous weather outlook was issued for Wednesday because there is a chance of flash flooding through Wednesday night.

The NWS said it is still too early to pinpoint exact timing and locations that might be affected.
