Heat, Followed By Rain: Poughkeepsie's Work Week Weather

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Don’t get too used to the heat and humidity we will be experiencing Tuesday. Temps will cool down a bit as we get further into this shortened work week.

The guys at Hudson Valley Weather said humidity levels will rise on Tuesday making the mid- and upper 80s feel even hotter.

And the heat and humidity will add a little instability to the atmosphere making it possible for a pop-up afternoon thunderstorm in parts of the region.

“Then as we push into Thursday and Friday, the instability rises once again, and scattered showers are possible,” Hudson Valley Weather said, “possibly even a rumble of thunder.”

Here is the work-week weather from the National Weather Service for the mid-Hudson Valley:

• Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Light north wind.
• Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. North wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 77. Southeast wind 3 to 8 mph.
• Wednesday Night: A slight chance of showers after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Thursday: A chance of showers, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Thursday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
