Heat, Humidity Return: Poughkeepsie's Work Week Weather

Here's what to expect around Newburgh, Middletown and Beacon.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Sunny and warm, that's what we're looking forward to this week. Forecasters think the only chance of rain will come on Tuesday, and that will only be scattered thunderstorms.

"So a very nice start to the work week… feeling every bit of summer across the region," said Hudson Valley Weather.

Temps will be slightly above normal. Forecasters predict a slight chance of showers and scattered thunderstorms late Tuesday, as a cool front gradually moves through the area.

“While it will be neither as hot nor as oppressive as early July, those spending long hours outside should still drink plenty of fluids, wear light-colored clothing and wear sunscreen to protect themselves from the dangerous UV rays of the sun,” AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said.

The early morning and evening hours will remain the best times to garden, mow the lawn, exercise or partake in other strenuous activities.

Tropical Storm Chris, while expected to become a hurricane, is predicted to stay out to sea. However, people heading to the beach to take advantage of the mainly sunny and rain-free conditions should be aware of the elevated risk of rip currents much of this week. This is due to the circulation of Chris off the Atlantic coast churning waters and making for windy conditions in some areas.
