HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The weather will be hot and humid through mid-week, then it is expected to turn stormy as cooler air moves into the region.

Steve DiRienzo, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service based in Albany, said high temperatures today will be in the low 90s, and temperatures will rise into the mid-90s for Tuesday and Wednesday.

“It will be hazy, hot and humid through Wednesday, then will turn cooler into the weekend,” DiRienzo said.

The National Weather Service has heat advisories in place, and the heat combined with humidity will make it feel like it is in the triple digits at times. It advises residents to stay in air conditioning and drink plenty of fluids, and cautions those who work outside to take breaks to reduce the risk of overheating.

On Wednesday afternoon, a cold front is expected to move through the Hudson Valley region, bringing the potential for thunderstorms, according to DiRienzo.
