Heavy Winds Take Out Power In Parts Of Ulster County

Central Hudson said estimated restoration times will be post on the company's websites.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — Central Hudson said it is addressing a few thousand of its customers whose electricity went out because of high winds.

As of 10:15 a.m., Central Hudson is reporting more than 2,800 customers with power outages.

Hardest hit in Ulster is the town of Olive. There are more than 1,700 customers without electricity, which translates to more than 61 percent of customers. Estimated restoration times are pending, the power company said.

Other Ulster outages are:

  • Hurley: 240
  • Rosendale: 190
  • Wawarsing: 290
  • Woodstock: 120

The power company said estimated restoration times will be posted on its website as soon as they become available.

Customers are reminded to stay at least 30 feet away from any down power lines.

Downed lines can become entangled and hidden in fallen trees. It’s important to assume that all downed lines are live.
