Hit-or-Miss Labor Day Weekend Weather In Poughkeepsie, Newburgh

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Not a complete washout, but not completely dry either. That's what forecasters are saying about Labor Day weekend throughout the Hudson Valley.

"The storms throughout Labor Day weekend will be hit-or-miss in nature, soaking some communities but missing others just a few miles away," said Renee Duff, AccuWeather meteorologist.

The other thing they're saying is that the heat and humidity will return, including temps in the upper 80s on Sunday and Monday.

Speaking of the humidity, according to @nymetrowx we just experienced one of the most humid summers in the history of the tri-state. Some areas have spent nearly 1,000 hours with dew points more than 70 degrees F, they said.

Here's the National Weather Service forecast for the holiday weekend in southern Westchester:

• Friday: Scattered showers, mainly after 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Friday Night: Scattered showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
• Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.
• Saturday Night: A slight chance of showers after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. South wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Sunday: A slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Sunday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Labor Day: Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 90.
• Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 70.
