Homeowner Posted A Doctored Image On Social Media And Falsely Accused State Trooper Of Voyeurism: NYSP

The 44-year-old Red Hook man was charged with misdemeanor third-degree falsely reporting an incident, according to state police.

RED HOOK, NY — A Hudson Valley man who faked images to try to humiliate a trooper has been arrested, according to NYSP.

The New York State Police say that their Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Rhinebeck arrested 44-year-old Daniel R. Anderson, of Red Hook, for misdemeanor third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

An investigation determined that a New York State Police trooper was trying to interview Anderson at his home about an unrelated incident when Anderson began filming the trooper and telling him to leave the property.

According to state police, Anderson then captured a still image from the video, digitally altered it to conceal the trooper's uniform, and posted it in a local Facebook group with a caption accusing the trooper of perversion and voyeurism.

NYSP says the post caused public alarm and inconvenience to the trooper and the trooper's family.

An arrest warrant was issued by the Town of Red Hook Court, and Anderson was taken into custody.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Red Hook Court on March 26.
