DOVER, NY — A horsing accident in Dutchess County resulted in the death of a Connecticut woman. State police said the incident occurred Monday on Byrds Hill Road in the Town of Dover.
Troopers responded to a family farm on Byrds Hill Road around 10:45 a.m. for a report of a woman falling off a horse.
An investigation found the horse reared for an undetermined reason and fell on top of the woman.

Police identified her as Samantha Calzone, 23, of Greenwich, Connecticut. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Calzone was a former captain of the equestrian team at UConn.
