Hudson Valley 1 Of Forbes' 25 Best Places To Visit In 2020

MID-HUDSON VALLEY, NY — What do Orlando, Florida, Scottsdale, Arizona, Vail, Colorado, and the Hudson Valley have in common? They are all listed by Forbes magazine in its "U.S. Travel: 25 Best Places To Visit In 2020" article.

The magazine's picks range from historic cities to up-and-coming locations you might not already know about.

"These are locations that will make every American citizen very proud," Forbes boasts.

The Hudson Valley was chosen by freelance food and travel writer Devorah Lev-Tov, who is based in Brooklyn.

She said the Hudson Valley — meaning primarily the part north of Westchester County — is where New Yorkers go to escape the city, due to its location just 90 minutes from Manhattan.

"[W[hile the air is fresher and things do move slower in the mountains, that doesn't mean nothing happens up here — in fact, quite the opposite is true," Lev-Tov wrote.

She cites the Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Rhinebeck, the Hudson Valley Food Hall in Beacon and the James Beard Award nominated Lil' Deb's Oasis in Hudson as reasons to visit.

Those of us who live in the Hudson Valley can also offer other reasons to visit, including the Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park and the Millbrook Vineyards & Winery in Millbrook.
