Hudson Valley Motorcyclist Killed Saturday In Crash With Car

The man was taken to an awaiting helicopter for transport to a hospital, but he died before he could be put into the aircraft.

CAIRO, NY — A fatal motorcycle accident in Greene County is being investigated by the state police. Kevin Sweeney, 55, of Catskill, was killed Saturday when a 2018 Subaru was traveling on Lincoln Drive at the intersection of State Route 145 crossed over into the path of his motorcycle.

Around 1:45 p.m. July 14, the 1988 Kawasaki motorcycle struck the car in the front passenger side, causing Sweeney to be ejected.

He was taken to an awaiting helicopter for transport to a hospital, but he died before he could be put into the aircraft.

The driver of the Subaru, Christine Cepale, 79, of Windham, and her husband, Robert Cepale, 85, were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

State police were assisted at the scene by the Cairo Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Cairo Fire Department and Cairo Ambulance.
