Hudson Valley Well-Represented at WFAN Radio 30th Anniversary by Broadcasters Coleman, Murti and Waldman
The 30th Anniversary was celebrated at Grand Central Terminal
Chappaqua resident John Cirillo, president of the PR firm Cirillo World, is flanked by WFAN Radio (660 AM/101.9 FM) Mets beat reporter Ed Coleman of Scarsdale (left), and Sweeny Murti of Dutchess County, the station’s Yankees beat reporter and pre- and post-game host on the Yankees Radio Network, at the 30th Anniversary broadcast of “The FAN” at Grand Central Terminal in New York City on Thursday, June 22. Coleman has been with the station since its inception in 1987, while Murti has been at the FAN since 1993. Cirillo, regarded as one of the top publicity executives in sports, represents the Grand Central Oyster Bar, a longtime advertiser on WFAN, which was a sponsor of the anniversary broadcast, and served seafood delicacies to the broadcasters, producers and sales staff. Cirillo also represents Westchester-based Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway (Yonkers) and Steiner Sports Marketing & Memorabilia (New Rochelle).
Suzyn Waldman of Yorktown Heights, pictured with Cirillo, was the first voice ever heard on WFAN in 1987, later served as the station’s Knicks beat reporter. In 2005 she became the color commentator for Yankees Radio Network broadcasts alongside play-by-play broadcaster John Sterling, first on CBS-owned WCBS AM and currently on WFAN.
Coleman (right) and Murti catch up on baseball proceedings at the anniversary celebration. The two are rarely seen together in season except during the Yankees-Mets Subway Series games since they are with their respective teams covering the beat.
