Inspection Sticker Violation Leads To K-9 Howie Finding Coke: Sheriff

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — The Ulster County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday that a 53-year-old man, from Ulster, was arrested after a traffic stop uncovered bigger issues.

The incident took place on September 4, shortly after 8 p.m., when deputies conducted a traffic stop on an uninspected vehicle which was driven by the man.

During the stop, officers determined that the man was driving with a suspended driver's license.

Deputies eventually deployed K-9 Howie to conduct a search of the vehicle which resulted in the discovery of multiple plastic bags containing a powdered substance, according to police. The substance was tested and determined to be cocaine.

The driver was charged with two counts of felony third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor second degree criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor second degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and a traffic violation for having an uninspected vehicle.
