Jeep Hits School Bus Head-On In Hudson Valley

There were 18 high schoolers in the bus at the time of the crash in Sullivan County.

NEVERSINK, NY — A school bus carrying 18 high school students was in a collision with another vehicle.

The New York State Police said, around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, a bus carrying students to BOCES Sullivan was in a head-on collision with a 2021 Jeep Cherokee on Route 55 in the town of Neversink, Sullivan County.

Investigators said the driver of the Jeep was traveling east when it struck a guide rail causing it to veer into the opposite lane where it hit the westbound bus.

All passengers on the bus were taken to Garnet Medical Center in Harris for evaluation.

Police said no one on the bus, including the driver, suffered any serious injuries.

The Jeep's driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center via medivac with multiple fractures.

Route 55 was closed for about two hours.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
