Juvenile Faces Felony Charge After Threatening HV School: NYSP

Police said the high school in Tuxedo received a series of emails threatening violence.

TUXEDO, NY — A young person is facing a felony charge after being accused of threatening violence at an Orange County school Wednesday.

The New York State Police said it began investigating a series of emails received by the George F. Baker High School in the Tuxedo Union Free School District suggesting there was a threat of violence at the school.

The Town of Tuxedo Police Department, Orange County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Woodbury Police Department were also involved in the investigation.

Lockdown procedures were implemented by the school district, and all students were safely accounted for and eventually dismissed from the building, police said.

The building was searched by law enforcement, and it was determined that the threat was not credible, according to authorities.

Continued investigation by the state police's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, with the assistance of the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force and the Tuxedo police, resulted in the arrest of young person whose name was not released.

The person was charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a felony.
