K-9 Vinn Leads Troopers To Coke, Fentanyl, Cash On The Taconic: NYSP

After troopers found around 2,359 grams of cocaine, 235 grams of fentanyl, and $1,435 in cash, a Poughkeepsie man was arrested.

TOWN OF LAGRANGE, NY — Troopers took a significant stash of potentially dangerous drugs off the streets, thanks in part to an assist from a four-legged colleague in blue.

New York State Police say that on Friday, around 2:32 p.m., members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) stopped a vehicle traveling north on the Taconic State Parkway, in the Town of LaGrange for traffic violations.

The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was identified as 30-year-old Jaquon L. Dancy, of Poughkeepsie.

After an exterior sniff of the vehicle, NYSP K-9 Vinn alerted troopers to the presence of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle led to troopers finding around 2,359 grams of cocaine, 235 grams of fentanyl, and $1,435 in cash.

Dancy was arrested and charged with two felony counts of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and two felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center.
