Karin Hablow Named Orange County's Commissioner of Finance
Hablow brings more than 15 years of fiscal experience to the position in the Mid Hudson Valley area.

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus announced on Friday that Karin Hablow has been named the County’s Commissioner of Finance.
Hablow’s first day as Commissioner of Finance was on Monday, May 2.

“We are very fortunate to have someone as talented as Karin to lead our finance department,” Neuhaus said. “Karin is extremely capable to take on this challenge and will continue to improve the financial operations of Orange County. She is respected and well-liked by her peers and is enthusiastic about taking the helm of this important department.”
Commissioner Hablow will administer the county’s finances, including banking, investment, debt issuance, payroll, accounts payable, property tax collection, and financial reporting. She previously served as a Deputy Commissioner in Orange County’s Department of Health. Hablow was responsible for oversight of all fiscal administration, including the Health Department’s annual budget, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants administration, payroll, and the collection of Medicare and Medicaid revenue.

“Karin Hablow is the right person at the right time for the Commissioner of Finance position,” said Steve Brescia, Chairman of the Orange County Legislature. “I’m impressed with Karin’s energy and she brings a lot of experience and ideas to the table. We have the utmost confidence in Karin and know she will do an excellent job.”
Prior to coming to Orange County government, Hablow accumulated 14 years of progressive financial management experience in the private sector as a financial analyst, private equity investor, and fiscal project manager. Hablow, a Goshen High School graduate who resides in the Town of Goshen, received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany in 1994. She earned her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business in 2000.
“I’m thankful to County Executive Neuhaus for giving me the opportunity to serve in this critical role,” Hablow said. “I look forward to collaborating with County Executive Neuhaus, the Legislature and the County’s various departments to find and develop creative solutions to improve Orange County’s fiscal health. I’m eager to begin to work with the talented staff in the Finance Department.”
The Commissioner of Finance position is subject to confirmation by the Orange County Legislature. County Executive Neuhaus will present Hablow for confirmation in the coming weeks.
