Kingston Man Faces Drug Felony Over Crack Possession: Police
He was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding.

KINGSTON, NY — An Ulster County man was arrested for allegedly having crack cocaine after the car in which he was traveling was stopped for speeding. State Police said Kunta K. Mason, 40, of Kingston, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Police said they stopped a vehicle on I-87 around 4:50 a.m. Aug. 26 in the City of Albany for a speeding violation. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
During the Trooper’s interview of the driver and several occupants, probably cause to search the vehicle and its occupants was established.

Mason, one of the passengers, was found to have 6.7 grams — or a little over 0.2 of an ounce — of crack cocaine, police said.
He was arrested and taken to the Albany barracks for processing.

Mason was arraigned in the Town of Bethlehem Court Aug. 26 and sent to Albany County Jail without bail.
He is scheduled to return to court Aug. 30.
