Kingston-Ulster Airport Awarded Snow Removal Equipment Grant

The grant will enable the clearing of the airport runway and taxiway in a timely manner.

KINGSTON, NY — The Kingston-Ulster Airport will be getting a critical grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Rep. John Faso, R-Kinderhook, recently made the announcement of the award of $289,456 from the Federal Aviation Administration, which is under the DOT.

Faso called the grant “significant.” (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

“It goes without saying that we are subject to some snowy winters in upstate New York, and the funding to the Kingston-Ulster Airport means critical resources will be available to them to acquire the proper equipment to effectively remove snow from runways, ensuring planes can safely take off and land at the airport,” he said.

Kingston-Ulster Airport President Frederic M. Zinn said he was grateful for Faso’s support of the FAA issuing the grant.

“The snow removal equipment being acquired with the grant will enable the clearing of the airport runway and taxiway in a timely manner during inclement weather and enable the airport to continue offering safe, year-round general aviation services to the community,” he said.
