KIRYAS JOEL, NY — The Village of Kiryas Joel in Orange County wants to separate itself from the Town of Monroe.
An article at The Photo News said Village Administrator Gedalye Saegedin explained the rationale for the move by saying that tensions between the village and other communities would be calmed by separating Monroe into two towns which would allow the village to better choose which public and communities services were more desirable for its residents.
