Lane Closure Set For I-84

Motorists should anticipate delays while work is being performed.

NEWBURGH, NY — Crews with the state Department of Transportation will be working on I-84 Friday. Motorists should anticipate a lane closure.

The DOT said a single lane closure is expected on I-84 westbound, between Exit 5A (Route 747) and Exit 5 (Route 208) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16.

Crews will be performing construction activities, weather permitting.

Delays should be anticipated, the DOT said.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
