Lead-up To Memorial Day: Poughkeepsie's Work Week Weather

Here's the five-day forecast plus a sneak peak at the long weekend around Beacon and Newburgh.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A beautiful start to a week of spring weather. And we don't mean sunny, we mean changeable, with a tropical downpour possible by Memorial Day weekend.

The National Weather Service says chances for rain will increase late Monday night and Tuesday morning, becoming likely with the possibility of a few rumbles of thunder during the afternoon and evening as a warm front lifts through. A cold front follows late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will turn considerably cooler on Tuesday with highs generally in the mid to upper 60s. Lows both Monday night and Tuesday night will generally range from the middle 50s to near 60.

Then, there's the chance of rain reaching the Hudson Valley from the south during the long weekend.

"Increased humidity and tropical moisture working up the coast, combined with an approaching cold front, can dampen later Saturday into Monday," AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said. "At some point, there may be several hours of steady to heavy rainfall for parts of the mid-Atlantic and southern New England."
