Library Card Selfie Scavenger Hunt

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — During the month of September, the Poughkeepsie Public Library District is celebrating National Library Card Sign-up Month by holding a city- and town-wide social media scavenger hunt to promote the many benefits of owning a library card. Each Monday, the library district will reveal, on its Facebook and Instagram feeds, a location in either the town or city of Poughkeepsie where people can go and take a photo with their Poughkeepsie Public Library District card.

By posting the picture on either Facebook or Instagram and tagging the Library with #PokLibNY and #PokLibraryCardMonth, each participant will be entered in a drawing for a Visa gift card.

There will be a bonus entry opportunity announced in mid-September.

The prize drawing will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1 on Poughkeepsie Library’s Facebook page via Facebook Live.

In order to qualify, the entry photo must meet the following standards. The photo must show a person with their Poughkeepsie Public Library District library card (keychain card is acceptable) in the location of the week, and the location must be clearly identifiable (example: in front of sign, architectural feature). The image must be posted to Facebook and/or Instagram and must be tagged with #PokLibNY and #PokLibraryCardMonth.

Maximum of one entry per person, per week (plus one bonus entry) allowed, for a total of five possible entries per person. One $100 Visa Gift Card prize is available.

The person entering must have a Poughkeepsie Public Library District Library Card and their account must be in good standing with no fines or overdue materials.

A free Poughkeepsie Public Library District card is available to all people who live, work, own property or attend school in the city or town of Poughkeepsie with proof of identification and status.

Your card allows you to borrow materials from the Poughkeepsie Public Library District or in the Mid-Hudson Library System.

Employees of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, Trustees, the Friends of the PPLD Board, and members of the immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to participate and win.
