MA Fugitive Arrested In Hudson Valley
Police said he was being sought in connection with an investigation into a drug-trafficking operation in Massachusetts.

KINDERHOOK, NY — State police took a Massachusetts man into custody after he had been declared a fugitive from justice. A joint investigation between the Massachusetts State Police and the NYSP from Troop K led to the discovery April 23 of the whereabouts of Dennis P. Ducharme, 28, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
With the assistance of the Troop K bloodhound, K9s from the state police, Troop G, Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Schodack Police Department and state police aviation, Ducharme was found after trying to get away from police by running from a convenience store into a nearby field.
He was located without further incident a short time later.

Ducharme is in custody, awaiting arraignment, police said.

Police said they believe Ducharme operated a large-scale heroin ring in Pittsfield, the Berkshire Eagle reported.
Seven people were arrested and charged for trafficking more than 23,000 bags of heroin over a two-week period.
Ducharme faces drug trafficking and weapons charges in Massachusetts.
