Man with Machete Charged with Robbing Family Dollar Store in Poughkeepsie

Police said he forced an employee to give him all the store's cash.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A machete-wielding man is in Dutchess County Jail after he tried to rob a Family Dollar store Sunday.

Johnny White, 28, of Beacon, was charged with felony first-degree robbery, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

Police said he locked one of the Main Street store's employees in the bathroom and had another give him money from a safe and cash register.
