
The Orange County Child Abuse Unit. which is comprised of members from the New York State Police, Village of Goshen Police, City of Port Jervis Police and Orange County Sheriff's Office, announce the arrest of a 29 year old man for the class E Felony of Rape in the Third Degree and for the class A Misdemeanor of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
State Police arrested and charged Jonathen Jones of Middletown April 14 after a 6-month investigation prompted by a report to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline.
The investigation in conjunction with the Orange County Department of Social Services - Child Protective Services, revealed that Jones, who had gotten a 15-year-old girl pregnant, resulting in the birth of a child in November 2015.
He had given her a fake name, police said.

However, during the course of the investigation his true identity was determined and he was located at the Orange County Jail, where he was incarcerated on unrelated charges.
A warrant of arrest was obtained for him from the Honorable Judge Stephen Brockett of the City of Middletown Court.

On April, 14, Jones was arraigned and returned to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail / $20,000 secured bond on these charges. An Order of Protection was issued by Honorable Stephen Brockett on behalf of the victim.
