Man Who Struck Woman With A Dumbbell During Domestic Disturbance Is Released On Own Recognizance

The victim was also choked and hit several times at an Orange County home, according to the Village of Maybrook Police Department.

MAYBROOK, NY — A case of domestic violence took a strange and terrifying turn in Orange County, according to police.

On Sunday, at approximately 9:45 a.m., the Village of Maybrook Police Department responded to a Tower Avenue home for a report of a domestic disturbance with a woman struck with an unknown object. At the scene, officers found that a male suspect, during a domestic dispute, struck the female victim in the head with a dumbbell, causing a head injury.

The man also choked and struck the woman several times, according to police.

Frederick Douglas Parks was arrested for assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal possession of a weapon, and harassment.

He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

The Village of Maybrook Police Department was assisted at the scene by New York State Police and the Town of Montgomery Ambulance Corps.
