Marist College Student Dies Due To Double Lung Transplant Rejection

He was chosen as one of the school's "100 Inspiring Students."

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A 21-year-old Marist College student died Tuesday, Aug. 1 due to a chronic rejection of a double lung transplant. Zachary Bassin, a Carmel resident, was born with cystic fibrosis and fought medical issues his entire life.

The funeral for Bassin, who is survived by his parents and brother, will at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester in Croton-on-Hudson, the Daily Voice said.
