Marriott Evacuated, Shooter In Custody, 1 Dead In Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — An active shooter at a Hudson Valley hotel sent guests scrambling and left one dead as police rushed to the scene.

At around 7:30 a.m., the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department received a 911 call about a disturbance at the Courtyard Marriott, located on South Road. During the phone call, it was reported that shots had been fired.

One male suspect was located and taken into custody by members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department. One male gunshot victim was also located inside the hotel. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Multiple agencies responded and are on the scene assisting with the investigation. Dutchess County Emergency Response and Red Cross have responded to the scene to assist with the guests who were staying at the hotel.
