Mid-Hudson Man Accused Of Attempted Rape

He was also accused of patronizing a prostitute and luring a child.

DENNING, NY — A mid-Hudson Valley man was accused of attempted rape and offering money for sex. State police said Archie J. Ackerley, 40, of Denning, was charged with second-degree attempted rape, first-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor as a sexually motivated felony, second-degree patronizing prostitution, luring a child and third-degree criminal solicitation, felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Ackerley's arrest, which took place Wednesday, resulted from an investigation conducted in conjunction with members of the state police in Kingston and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.

Police said Ackerley, over several months, sent explicit photos of himself to a minor and asked the victim for nude photos. He also engaged in sexual touching of the victim and offered cash for sex, according to authorities.

Ackerley was arraigned by the Town of Rockland Justice Court and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash or $15,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday.
