Missing Hudson Valley Student Found Dead Sunday

His body was found in a wooded area behind his home.

WASHINGTONVILLE, NY — The body of a missing Washingtonville High School student was found Sunday, Aug. 12 near his home. Timothy Davis, 14, had been reported missing Friday, Aug. 10.

Davis was going to be in the ninth grade in September at Washingtonville High School.

Blooming Grove Police Chief Carl Schupp said Davis’ body was found in a wooded area about 400 feet behind his home, the recordonline said.

The police chief declined further comment about what happened to the teenager.

In a note to the Washingtonville Central School District community, Superintendent Roy Reese said a crisis intervention team was in place over the weekend and will be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at Taft Elementary School.

“This loss is sure to raise many emotions, concerns and questions for our entire school, especially our students,” Reese said. “We are saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child.”

A Go Fund Me account was set up to raise money to cover Davis’ funeral expenses.

Organizer Laurisa Sampson said that losing someone can be a very difficult things to experience.

“Losing someone who is young, talented and beloved by many is even more difficult,” she wrote.

“Any and all assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated at this very difficult time,” Sampson wrote.

The goal is $25,000, of which more than $18,000 had been donated as of Monday morning.
