Missing Person Search Leads To Patrol Car, Train Crash
The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office had been searching for a man missing for a couple of days.
WAPPINGER, NY — A search for a missing person led to a an investigation of a car/train crash in the Town of Wappinger. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said they were notified around 7 p.m. Tuesday that Andrew Tyler Neckles, 26, had not returned from boating on the Hudson River on Sunday.
The sheriff's office Marine Patrol Unit conducted a search of the river, along with patrol units for a ground search of the shore, but Neckles was not found.
The search ended around midnight Tuesday and resumed Wednesday morning, authorities said.

During the initial land search Tuesday, a deputy, who needed to get close to the railroad tracks, inadvertently placed his vehicle too close to the tracks. It was sideswiped by a passing northbound Metro-North train.
Neither the deputy nor the train passengers were injured during the crash, authorities said. The incident is under investigation by the sheriff's office and Metro-North police.

Shortly after the search for Neckles resumed Wednesday morning, the marine patrol found a boat and a body fitting Neckles' description close to the western shore of the Hudson River.
While the scene is still under investigation, the body was tentatively as Neckles. The Dutchess County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death and officially confirm the identity.
