Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with State Trooper Friday

The crash occurred in the Town of Washington in Dutchess County.

MILLBROOK, NY — The driver of a motorcycle was killed Friday when he collided with a State Trooper’s vehicle.

State Police said a Trooper from the Poughkeepsie barracks was responding to assist the Village of Millbrook Police Department with a person with a knife at the Millbrook High School football game around 7:45 p.m. Friday.

The Trooper was traveling east on Route 44 with emergency lights and sirens on when a collision with a motorcycle operated by a 45-year-old Brooklyn man occurred.

The incident took place at the intersection of Route 44 and Sharon Turnpike in the Town of Washington.

Police are withholding the identity of the man, pending notification of next of kin.

The Trooper was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center for evaluation. He was released with minor injuries.

The State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit reconstructed the crash and remains under investigation.
