Local law enforcement will also not be deputized immigration officers.

NEWBURGH, NY — The Newburgh City Council approved a resolution Monday that said the city’s police department and government will not enforce immigration law.
The city also will not be joining the federal 287(g) program where local law enforcement officers are deputized to become immigration officers, the Times Herald-Record said.
City facilities will not be allowed to be used as temporary detention sites as well.
