Newburgh Man Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges

The arrest was the result of the execution of a search warrant.

NEWBURGH, NY — State police arrested a Newburgh on drug charges after the execution of a search warrant. On June 26, the State police Troop F Community Narcotics Enforcement Team uniform members of the state police and the City of Newburgh Police Department conducted narcotics investigation which resulted in the execution of a search warrant on South Williams Street in Newburgh.

Sheldon L. Tompson, 33, of Newburgh was arrested.

Police said they seized about 16 grams of crack cocaine, 17 grams of powder cocaine, 5 grams of heroin and 8 ounces of marijuana.

Tompson was charged with the following:

  • Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Three counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor

Tompson was arraigned in the City of Newburgh Court and remanded in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in lieu of $50,000 bail or $50,000 bond.
