NJ Man On Probation Accused Of Drugs, Weapon Possession: NYSP

State troopers initially were checking on a truck pulled over on the highway with its emergency flashers on.

ULSTER, NY — An early morning New Year's Day safety check on an Ulster County highway led to accusations of possession of drugs and a weapon for a New Jersey man.

The New York State Police said, shortly after 5 a.m Saturday, troopers saw a 2018 Dodge Ram pick-up truck pulled over on Route 28 in the town of Ulster with its emergency flashers on.

After pulling over to conduct a check to see if the people in the truck were OK, the troopers said the driver identified herself as someone else.

It was later determined her name was Lauren Armanie, 34, of Shandaken, police said

Her passenger — Darion Alls, 50, of Newark, New Jersey — was found to have an active warrant from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, authorities said, and he was taken into custody.

Police said a search of the truck found:

  • A Ruger SR 9mm Luger stainless/black pistol
  • 17 round SR9 9mm magazine
  • High-capacity magazine containing 21 rounds
  • Crack cocaine weighing about 48 grams along with a digital scale
  • White and blue fentanyl pills weighing about 39 grams
  • Buprenorphine and naloxone weighing about 7.8 grams
  • Glassine envelopes

Alls was charged with violation of probation, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. He was also charged with second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, misdemeanors.

Armanie was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor.

They were arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court.

Armanie was released on her own recognizance, and Alls was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, $60,000 bond or $100,000 partial secure bond.
