Oppressive Heat Returns To Hudson Valley: Latest Forecast Details

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — High heat and humidity will make it feel like it is in the triple digits for the next couple of days, according to meteorologists.

High temperatures on both Tuesday and Wednesday will reach into the mid to upper-90s, according to the National Weather Service. The humidity will make it seem even hotter.

Heat advisories are in place from 11 a.m. Tuesday to 7 p.m. Wednesday for Dutchess and Ulster counties, where heat index values of up to 103 are expected, the National Weather Service said.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the heat advisory runs through 9 p.m. on Wednesday, with meteorologists predicting heat index values of up to 101.

This could lead to heat-related illness, according to the National Weather Service. Residents are urged to drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioning when possible, and check on relatives and neighbors. Those who work outdoors should schedule frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

An air quality alert is also in place for Rockland and Westchester counties in the Hudson Valley between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Tuesday, due to ground level ozone.

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon and evening, followed by high heat but less humidity on Thursday, according to meteorologists.

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 101. Southwest wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 74. Southwest wind 3 to 7 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 96. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65.

Friday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 90.
