Orange County Man Convicted Of Murdering 2-Month-Old Son

Testimony was given that the child was violently shaken or thrown resulting in head trauma.

GOSHEN, NY — The Middletown man who was accused of killing his 2-month-old son was convicted Thursday by a jury. Michael Heil, 27, was found guilty of second-degree murder under the depraved indifference murder of a child statute, second-degree murder under depraved indifference, first-degree manslaughter and second-degree manslaughter.

Medical experts presented testimony that Zachary Heil was violently shaken, thrown or slammed resulting in head trauma the night of Aug. 7, 2016, recordonline.com said. The child died Aug. 22 after being removed from life support.
