Police ID Body Found In Hudson Valley

The man's vehicle was stuck in the lawn of a neighboring home since the day before his body was found.

MAMAKATING, NY — State police released more information about the discovery of a body Thursday, Jan. 10 in Sullivan County. Troopers responded to a report of a man's body found along the side of Larson Road in the Town of Mamakating.

Stephen Warner, 70, of Mamakating, was found dead in a ditch along the road.

His vehicle was found on the lawn on the adjacent property at 17 Larson Road.

Police said that Warner lived across the road at 20 Larson Road and the investigation found that his vehicle got stuck in the lawn around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9.

Warner had injuries consistent with a fall, police said, and it appeared that he was outside in the elements during the overnight period.

Police said that neither Warner nor the scene indicated any criminal act.

An autopsy conducted Jan. 10 determined that the cause of death was hypothermia with contributing cardiac issues.
