Police Seeking Info About German Shepherd's Death

The dog's body was found 6 miles from its owners' home.

GALLATIN, NY — State police are looking into the death of a German shepherd dog found Sunday in the Town of Gallatin in Columbia County. The dog, which was about 2 years old, was found near the shoulder of Silvernails Road by a resident and reported to the dog warden officer.

The officer called the state police after noticing a bullet wound on the animal.

An investigation determined the dog's owners live about 6 miles south of the location on Stissing Road. The dog was known to run from the residence.
