Police Trying To Identify This Suspect Linked To Church Burglary

ULSTER, NY — Police need your help identifying a suspect who cops say broke-in to a local church, but didn't takeaway everything he needed.

The Town of Ulster Police Department Detective Division is attempting to identify the suspect in the burglary on Friday, around 7:30 p.m., at the New Life Church at 15 Swart Lane off of State Route 32 near the Town of Saugerties town line.

The suspect approached the church on foot from State Route 32, forced entry through a rear door and remained in the building for several hours before leaving again on foot in an unknown direction, according to police.

He damaged property in the church and stole cash, as well as, a dark color Summit Ridge backpack.

The suspect is described as a white man with short brown hair, a beard, and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a maroon Carhartt crewneck sweatshirt, cargo shorts and boots.
