Postmaster Accused Of Illegally Recording Someone

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A Dutchess County postmaster stands accused of unlawfully recording someone at his post office. State police said Robert L. Simone, 57, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with second-degree unlawful surveillance, a felony.

Police said an investigation found Simone, while he was employed as postmaster of the Salt Point Post Office, used an electronic recording device to illegally record one known victim at the post office.

The post office is located on Cottage Street in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

Simone was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.

He is next scheduled to appear in court July 23.
