Poughkeepsie Man Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges

State police were initially called to assist with a domestic incident.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was arrested on drug possession charges Tuesday. State police said Anthony A. Haylett, 31, of Poughkeepsie, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Troopers responded to Orchard Street around 1:55 p.m. to assist the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department with a domestic incident happening in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S550.

While interviewing its occupants, multiple glassine envelopes used to package heroin were seen in plain view, police said.

Haylett was found to be in possession of about 3.5 grams of crack cocaine, 0.51 grams of heroin, 2 grams of suboxone, scales, plastic packaging bags, a box of glassine envelopes and a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Haylett is next scheduled to appear in the City of Poughkeepsie Court Sept. 12.
