Poughkeepsie Man Hits Victim In Face With Brick: Police

After the assault, the defendant fled the scene on foot, police said.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was arrested after allegedly striking someone in the face with a brick on Main Street in the city. Around 3:40 a.m. April 29, Sergeant Neil Stuart saw the assault, after which the suspect fled the scene on foot and was pursued to the area of Cannon Street.

Police said Chad Smith, 27, of Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody and was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

It is alleged by police that Smith hit the victim in the face with a brick, causing substantial facial injuries, including lacerations and broken bones.

Smith was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
