Poughkeepsie Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

Authorities said the crash occurred on Overlook Road near Alvin Court in LaGrange.

LAGRANGE, NY — A Poughkeepsie man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday in the town of LaGrange.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said the crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Overlook Road near Alvin Court in LaGrange.

Sheriff's deputies said the preliminary investigation found that a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by Nicholas Giguere, 37, of Poughkeepsie, was going west on Overlook Road when he lost control around a curve.

The motorcycle then left the roadway and struck a guide rail.

Giguere suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said the primary causes of the crash appears to be unsafe speed and a failure to maintain lane.

The sheriff's office said it would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed all or part of the crash or who may have been in the area during that time.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the LaGrange Fire Department.

The investigation is continuing by the sheriff's office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit.
