Poughkeepsie Residents March In Wake Of 2 Shootings

The march was planned after a shooting in the city Sunday.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — More than 30 people marched Wednesday in the City of Poughkeepsie following shootings that occurred Sunday and Wednesday. A man was shot twice Sunday night in the area of North Clinton Street and Wednesday morning an 18-year-old Poughkeepsie High School student was shot on Talmadge Street.

The name of the student, who is being treated in a local hospital, has not been released by police, the Poughkeepsie Journal said. [Get Patch’s Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts here.]

Organizers planned the march after Sunday’s shooting, but took on more urgency after the student’s shooting.
