Poughkeepsie Woman Fatally Stabs Nassau County Man

Police said the woman stabbed the man in the chest on Thanksgiving and he died two weeks later.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Dutchess County woman was accused of stabbing a Nassau County man who eventually died of his wounds.

The Nassau County Police said Veronica Hardwick, 51, of the town of Poughkeepsie, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder, a felony.

Police said officers were sent to a Fulton Avenue address in Hempstead, Nassau County, the evening of Nov. 25 for a report of a man who had been stabbed in the chest.

Richard Reshard, 35, of Hempstead, was taken to a local hospital. He died Dec. 7, police said.

Detectives arrested Hardwick Thursday and she was arraigned in the First District Court in Hempstead.
